“ I have been on a recovery journey for the past four years, and have been blessed with incredible support from family, friends, and the community. I have also encountered the stigma, discrimination, and shame that exist around the disease of addiction. Our mission at Friends of Recovery is to address the discrimination and stigma. The Guiding Principle – “Recovery involves addressing discrimination and transcending shame and stigma” is what we are all about.”

Michael McAneny, FOR-DO Secretary

Michael, the architect for both Turning Point’s initial retrofit and recent renovation, has been a member of the Board of Directors for three years, serving as Secretary for the past two.

“As one in long-term recovery since 1984, my credo is one of passing on what was given to me. This belief applies both my professional skills and, more importantly, to that learned from those before me in 12 Step programs. Friends of Recovery (both as an organization and through its facilities) has presented me with and continues to offer me such opportunities.”

Vickie Allsup, FOR-DO Treasurer

Vickie has come full circle, graduating from a local high school 35 years ago majoring in business, she returned to the area six years ago after spending thirty years living on the West Coast.
